Ingredients
  • 12 lasagna noodles
  • 1 pound sweet Italian sausage
  • 3/4 pound lean ground beef
  • 1/2 cup minced onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 1 can crushed tomatoes (28 oz.)
  • 2 cans tomato paste (6 oz. each)
  • 2 cans canned tomato sauce (6.5 oz. each)
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons white sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons dried basil leaves
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 3/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Directions
  1. Cook lasagna noodles in boiling water for 8 to 10 minutes. Drain noodles and rinse with cold water.
  2. In a large skillet, cook and stir sausage, ground beef, onion, and garlic until well browned. Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, tomato sauce, and water.
  3. Season with sugar, basil, and 1/2 teaspoon salt. Simmer covered for about 1.5 hours, stirring occasionally.
  4. In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese with egg, remaining salt, and oregano.
  5. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  6. Assemble lasagna: spread 1 1/2 cups of meat sauce in the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish. Arrange 6 noodles lengthwise over meat sauce. Spread with one half of the ricotta cheese mixture. Top with a third of mozzarella cheese. Repeat layers, and top with remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
  7. Cover with foil, but ensure foil does not touch cheese. Bake for 25 minutes, remove foil, and bake an additional 25 minutes. Cool for 15 minutes before serving.

Lasagna, a beloved dish by many, has its roots deep in the culinary history of Italy. The traditional lasagna is made with layers of pasta, cheese, and meat sauce. However, the Logistic Regression Lasagna is a playful twist on this classic dish, inspired by the precision and creativity of an Iron Chef.

The idea behind the Logistic Regression Lasagna was to create a recipe that was as precise and predictable as a logistic regression model. Each ingredient was carefully selected and measured to ensure perfect results every time, just like the coefficients in a logistic regression.

This recipe distinguishes itself from common versions by using a combination of sweet Italian sausage and ground beef in the Bolognese sauce, adding a unique depth of flavor. The use of three types of cheese - ricotta, mozzarella, and Parmesan - ensures a creamy, rich taste in every bite.

The Logistic Regression Lasagna is more than just a dish; it's a culinary experience that combines the art of cooking with the precision of mathematics. It's a dish that brings together family and friends, and leaves them impressed by your Iron Chef-inspired skills. So put on your apron and get ready to create a masterpiece in your kitchen!
